Victor Kossakovsky began his career at the Leningrad (St.Petersburg) Studio of Documentaries, where he served as an assistant cameraman, assistant director, and editor in 1978. He completed his education at the Higher Courses of Film Writers and Directors in Moscow in 1988. His inaugural feature film, "Belovy" (The Belovs), clinched both the VPRO Joris Ivens Award and the Audience Award at IDFA 1993. Subsequently, he crafted an array of films: "Wednesday 19.07.1961", "Pavel and Lyalya, I Loved You…", "Tishe!", "Svyato", "Vivan Las Antipodas!", "Aquarela" ,"Gunda", and "Architecton". Victor Kossakovsky's films have garnered over 100 awards. His latest film, "Architecton", premiered at the Berlinale in 2024.
