Lecture: War Without End, Peace Without Tranquillity. Taliban Activities In Afghanistan

Afghanistan is located at the intersection of three regions: Middle East, Central Asia and South Asia, each of which has been mired in wars and conflicts for many decades. Afghanistan itself is both a victim of this turbulent international environment and a source of much of the unrest that spills over into neighbouring countries. In the first half of the 1990s, the Taliban – a radical, fundamentalist Islamic movement that is changing not only the political but also the social, cultural and economic landscape of the country emerged in Afghanistan. The film "Hollywoodgate", which depicts everyday life in Afghanistan under the Taliban regime, will serve as the starting point for a lecture by Jarosław Jarząbek on the ideas of the movement, its origins, activities, and prospects for its future.

Jarosław Jarząbek – PhD, professor at the University of Wrocław, works at the Institute of International and Security Studies. His research interests include security policy, political systems, and armed forces of Middle Eastern countries, as well as the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Scholarship holder of the Polish-American Fulbright Commission. Programme director in the European Master in Global Studies programme at the University of Wrocław.
