The Zola Experience

Anne is a director. She adapts Emile ”Zola’s L’Assommoir”, in which she plays the role of Gervaise. The characters’ stories echoes her own personal life. Thanks to a « real cinema » approach, immersed in the daily lives of these artists inhabited by a fire that lives and burns, the camera explores the characters creative process as close as possible. Through a mise en abyme, the film challenges the troubling frontier where fiction merges with reality, where life merges with art. This documentary approach questions intimacy, drama, passion, work and love, and seeks to shed light on the most vibrant, timeless and universal aspects of life.
