For the fourth time now, we have turned out to be the best! This time, we have received the Polish Film Institute Award for the Distribution of a Polish Film, namely for “The Prince and the Dybbuk” by Elwira Niewiera and Piotr Rosołowski. The film also took the award for Best Poster.

“The Prince and the Dybbuk” is a cinematic journey in the footsteps of Michał Waszyński, the author of numerous famous pre-war films starring Eugeniusz Bodo, director of the mystical film adaptation of “The Dybbuk”, and producer of Hollywood blockbusters starring Sofia Loren and Claudia Cardinale. The film attempts to solve the mystery of Waszyński who would frequently reinvent himself over the course of his life. Some remember him as a distinguished aristocrat, the husband of an Italian countess, others recall him as a talented director, a brilliant producer, or an elegant man hiding his homosexuality and Jewish roots.
“The Prince and the Dybbuk” has received the Chopin’s Nose Award for the Best Film About Music and Art during the 15th edition of the Millennium Docs Against Gravity Film Festival, ex aequo with “Love Express. The Strange Case of Walerian Borowczyk” by Kuba Mikurda. The Chopin’s Nose award was funded by the National Film Archive – Audiovisual Institute. The film has also received the award for the Best Documentary Film in the Venice Classics section at the Venice Film Festival.
“The Prince and the Dybbuk” has also received the Antoni Marianowicz Warsaw Phoenix Award for the Best Polish Film during the 14th Jewish Motifs International Film Festival. It has also received the main award in the What the Doc section at the 2018 Docs Barcelona film festival.
