Debate: We Know How to Talk About the Climate!
after the screening of the film ONCE UPON A TIME IN A FOREST, dir. Virpi Suutari
Partner: European Solidarity Centre – founder of the All About Freedom Festival award for the best film contributing to a broad understanding of the value of solidarity.
We Poles have different identities; we don't believe in the same things, we prioritise different values, and our judgement on the past and the present differs. What if we respected this diversity and learned to talk to each other? Katarzyna Binda, cultural anthropologist and member of the New Community Foundation, will tell us about the concept of community dialogue. We will discuss how to talk to each other despite intergenerational and cultural differences. Is dialogue possible in the face of such different approaches to climate change?
Guest:
Katarzyna Binda – cultural anthropologist, serbologist, tutor, and project coordinator for NGOs. She enjoys working in community settings and connecting people from different bubbles. She coordinates a dialogue track on climate and environmental issues and facilitates dialogues.
Host:
Bartosz Rief – sociologist. Co-founder of the Solidarność Codziennie space at the European Solidarity Centre, where he works with local communities and NGOs. He is interested in institutional ecological change, grassroots cultural centres, and processes of change in urban communities.
