KinoUkraїna. Meeting with the director and the producer of the film “Porcelain War”
after the screening of the film PORCELAIN WAR, dir. Slava Leontyev, Brendan Bellomo
"Ukraine is like porcelain", says one of the film's protagonists, "it's easy to break, but you can't destroy it". This year, as part of the KinoUkraїna series, we will present “Porcelain War”, which won the Grand Prix in the US documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival. The film tells the story of Ukrainian artists seeking inspiration and beauty in an effort to defend their country and culture. Despite the deadly threat, the protagonists of the documentary do not give up and resist the war in various ways, including making porcelain figurines that capture an idyllic past, an uncertain present, and hope for a better future. We will talk with the director about the transformation of the artist into a soldier and the courage required to persevere through the everyday reality of war.
