Monika Braid is an independent documentary and fiction film producer. Born in Kraków, where she graduated in Film Studies from Jagiellonian University, she has lived in the UK since 1995. While working for the Polish Cultural Institute in London (2000-2004), she organised many screenings and reviews of Polish cinema as well as initiated and programmed the Polish Film Festival in London, now known as Kinoteka, held annually in the UK. In 2006, she founded her own production company, Braidmade Films, where she produces films in collaboration with international organisations, TV broadcasters and producers. In 2012 she set up a branch of the company in Kraków, Braidmade Films PL, and since 2016 it has also been operating in St. Leonards on Sea in the south of England. Monika works with filmmakers from all over the world, making independent arthouse films that address universal human statements and target audiences from different cultural backgrounds. She is a graduate of EAVE (2007). He has produced award-winning films such as “Wall of Shadows” (dir. Eliza Kubarska, ZDF/Arte and TVP, 2020, over 30 Grand Prix), “K2. Touch the Sky” (2015, dir. Eliza Kubarska, HBO), “Walking Under Water” (2014, dir. Eliza Kubarska, ZDF/Arte), “Wojtek: The Bear Who Went to War” (2012, dir. Will Hood, BBC/ MDR/TVP) and others. The films are in worldwide distribution and screened in cinemas in Poland, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.
