Meeting with Adam Majchrzak: Fake News On Steroids

after the screening of the film ANOTHER BODY, dir. Sophie Compton and Reuben Hamlyn

Italy's Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni stars in porn films, and Donald Trump poses for photos with black voters? The development of technology means easy access to information. In the multitude of content that flows through phone and computer screens every day, it is increasingly difficult to distinguish what is the truth. In addition to valid and verified information every day, there is also information that aims to mislead, spread disinformation or stir up emotions. Fake news has become an everyday thing, and deepfakes are fake news on steroids. While the ability to modify videos is nothing new, artificial intelligence has automated the process as technology has developed, and deepfakes have become more realistic, easier, and cheaper to make. Have we reached the point where we can no longer protect ourselves from disinformation? What is doxxing and how can we defend against it?
